Chief of Tech
It is your responsibility to make sure all cars that are entered for competition have passed a safety inspection and have been issued the appropriate number of "Tech Stickers". As a part of the safety inspection, make sure that all the appropriate decals, numbers, and class designations are on the cars.
Tires on Stock and Street Prepared category cars will be checked for compliance with 13.3.I., however tires will not be marked. Teched tires will be unprotestable for violation of section 13.3.I. after the car makes its first competition run on said tire(s). Competitor may tech as many tires as he or she feels necessary.
Be sure to re-read all sections of the rule book that apply to your specialty. It is important that we all are very clear as to our responsibilities. You may also want to re-acquaint yourself with other sections of the rule book.
Attached is a sample of a suggested checklist you will be working with. Please read it over to familiarize yourself with what is to be checked. A tech card will not be required. After a car has passed tech, put the appropriate tech sticker on the car & check off the competitor on the entry list that registration will provide.
Set up scales adjacent to the tech inspections on Friday afternoon. Operating instructions are in the box with the electronic component. Offer the scales to all Prepared and Modified class drivers. Weighing those cars at tech is not required, but is advised because they will be weighed at Impound the next day. If the scales are offered, they will not be able to claim they didn’t know they were underweight. The scales will be provided by the Divisional Steward and will be available Friday afternoon.
One tech sticker should be used for each driver per class – to let pre-grid know how many drivers per car. Ladies’ class drivers may be marked on the same tech sticker as their corresponding men’s class driver.
Car # and class should be displayed prominently on body panels of both sides of the car in contrasting color to the car.
Go over the above procedures with your workers.
